Darren:
“A childhood memory I have is when we didn’t have no electricity, my mom went outside and grilled pop-tarts. When I was a kid I was good in school until I came down here. I met people in school who took advantage of me because of my learning disability in high school. I was in special classes but I graduated. Since I graduated from high school, my grandfather, uncle, grandmother, and my mom and dad have passed away…so I don’t have any parents or grandparents. The rest of my family is down in Florida with my daughter who just turned 18 last year. I’m hoping to go down to Florida this year to visit her.

When my mom passed away I couldn’t even go in the room she was in because when she had a heart attack I had to give her CPR until the ambulance got there and she died in my arms. I left the house after my mom passed.”
